LEARN THE FACTS ABOUT THIS FORWARD-THINKING INITIATIVE

I stand for: Faith • Family • Livelihood

I have spent the last eight years serving you and your family in Rutherford County’s District 8. We are the fastest-growing district in our county and one of the largest in the state. During my eight years as your commissioner, I have undertaken this position as a full-time job because that’s what it takes! I am not a politician. I am a servant who has put FAITH • FAMILY • LIVELIHOOD FIRST and by doing so we have become one of the most sought after and thriving districts on the map!

DISTRICT 8 IS ABOUT US and the best way to meet our local challenges is TOGETHER and working toward solutions as ONE!

PUTTING OUR PEOPLE & VALUES FIRST!

ABOUT PETTUS: DRIVEN TO SERVE.

Once again, Pettus is seeking the office of Rutherford County Commissioner for the Eight District as a conservative, Christian citizen of Rutherford County just as his grandfather did over 50 years ago in the exact same area. He is a sixth-generation Rutherford County native residing on his family’s farm which is located on the same road where his ancestors settled along with many others coming to Middle Tennessee in 1802.

He attended the former Rockvale High School and is a graduate from Middle Tennessee State University with a B.S. degree in plant and soil science, as well as minor studies in speech and business administration. He was employed with the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation for more than 44 years, until his retirement.

He was the director of communications and editor of the Tennessee Home and Farm magazine, as well as the Tennessee Farm Bureau News where he received numerous national awards of excellence in editorial and commentary writing while overseeing his department’s multi-million-dollar budgets that balanced each year

Besides representing his district of the commission for the last eight years, Pettus currently serves as Vice Chairman on the Rutherford County Planning Commission, President of the Rutherford County Historical Society, has been appointed twice by the Governor to serve on the Sam Davis Memorial Association Board of Trustees, has represented the American Farm Bureau Federation with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, has served as a member of the 10-county area Cumberland Region Tomorrow Board of Directors planning organization representing Rutherford County, the National MTSU Alumni Board of Directors, chairman of the MTSU Agricultural Farm Advisory Board, member of the Tennessee State Agriculture Museum Board of Directors,  and  a commissioner on the board of the St. Claire Senior Center.
